UK Cadbury workers link with Egyptian union to stand up against Mondelēz human rights abuses

Members of UNITE at UK Cadbury are joining forces with fellow workers in Egypt to challenge human rights violations by Cadbury’s parent company Mondelez International. On May 2-3 Unite hosted two sacked workers from the Alexandria Cadbury plant - Nasr Awad and Hussein Ahmad - who were among the 5 founding members of an independent union dismissed last year as part of the company’s drive to crush the union.

After 62 days of continuous protests the IUF-affiliated Milk Food Factory Workers Union in Punjab, India, won a crucial victory against union-busting and the erosion of working conditions by profit hungry GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Consumer Healthcare.

Russia: Valentin Urusov awarded with Arthur Sensson international union rights prize

The Committee for the Arthur Svensson International Prize for Trade Union Rights (in honour of Norwegian trade unionist Arthur Svensson) has announced that its fourth international prize will be awarded to IUF’s nominee Valentin Urusov.
