IUF affiliated NGG concluded a very successful collective bargaining agreement after 11 rounds of negotiations and 2 weeks of nationwide warning strikes at Coca-Cola Germany to stop job cuts.
Agreement ends strike with improved compensation for outsourced Netherlands Unilever workers 15-04-2013
FNV Bondgenoten members who will be outsourced to Sodexo on May 1 ended their strike on April 9 with a spirited demo at Unilever headquarters while a new international support action by South African IUF members was taking place in at Unilever Food Services Pietermaritzburg. After an unprecedented 6 weeks of industrial action in the Netherlands Unilever finally agreed to negotiations and the strikers approved the settlement on April 12.
New Danone baby nutrition union formed in India 14-04-2013
A union was organized for the first time at the Nutricia baby nutrition plant in Lalru, Punjab, a year after the plant was acquired by Danone through its purchase of Wockhardt Ltd.
Women tobacco workers win historic wage increase in Ahmedabad, India 12-04-2013
More than 15,000 women workers employed as home-based beedi (cigarette) workers in Ahmedabad in the north western state of Gujarat have won a 15% wage increase through collective bargaining. The women beedi workers are members of the IUF-affiliated Self Employed Women's Association (SEWA).
