Settlement ends long strike at Tate & Lyle Adana, Turkey

Printer-friendly version

The 107-day strike by the IUF-affiliated Tekgida-Is at Tate & Lyle's Amylum Starch Corporation in Adana, Turkey ended on June 20 when agreement was reached on wages and social benefits.

As a result the employer revoked the lock-out decision. Workers who fought this long and resolute struggle with their union's full support now enjoy their first collective agreement which brings significant gains, including an immediate increase in wages and social benefits and improved work conditions.

Tekgida-Is has warmly thanked all supporters who responded to the IUF's solidarity request urging management at Amylum Starch Corporation to start meaningful negotiations with the union, negotiations which succeeded and now allow the strike to end.
