Despite resistance from the workforce, their union, the NGG, the local government, religious and other institutions, 42 workers will be out of a job on June 30, when the production line for returnable bottles at Neuselters in Löhnberg will be shut down. In future, the factory will focus on non-returnable packing for discount retail chains (see previous story [1]).
The NGG thanks all IUF affiliates who sent solidarity messages during the Neuselters struggle and reports that this support helped them obtain a better redundancy plan for their members, including a training and job creation scheme partly financed by Nestlé.
