Danish Crown shuts down UK factory after only 38 days of ownership 15-03-2012
On Monday, March 6, just 38 days after taking over the Tranfoods meat packing facility in Birkenhead (UK), Danish Crown's UK subsidiary, Tulip, shut down the factory without notice, leaving over 200 workers out on the street.

At the close of the IUF Meat Conference (1-2 November 2011), a proposal was made - and accepted - to convene a steering group of affiliates to explore the feasibility of creating a Meat Division within the IUF. India: Barefoot slaughterhouse workers fight for rights in the world's third largest beef exporter 02-01-2012
In 2012 India will displace the US as the world’s third largest beef exporter, with exports growing by 16% to exceed 1.3 million tonnes per year. This follows government efforts to bring about a "pink revolution" in the meat and poultry industry (following the so-called "green revolution" in agricultural crops and the "white revolution" in dairy).
IUF Global Meat Conference 2011 - Report 28-12-2011
The IUF Global Meat Conference hosted by the United Food and Commercial Workers Union in Omaha, Nebraska, on 1-2 November 2011, welcomed some 160 delegates from UFCW local organizations in the US and Canada and 29 delegates from outside North America. This was the IUF's 3rd Global Meat Conference, following previous conferences in Toronto (Canada) in 2002 and in Eastbourne (UK) in 2008.
