Tell Coca-Cola to respect workers' rights in the Philippines!

Printer-friendly version

For the past two years Coca-Cola Philippines has aggressively imposed a new personal performance system on thousands of workers, effectively replacing wage bargaining rights with arbitrary individual wage increases and a series of penalties including zero wage rises and termination in just 6 months.

Meanwhile the promise of hundreds of permanent jobs following US$900 million in new investments disappeared overnight, replaced with a return to casualization and outsourcing. Unions opposing these measures as a threat to rights and job security have come under immense pressure, forcing them to take to the streets in protest. They are joined by other unions, youth groups and social movement organizations which launched a nation-wide campaign today telling Coca-Cola to respect workers' rights.
