IUF calls on Mondelez CEO Irene Rosenfeld to reinstate dismissed union leaders in Tunisia and Egypt

Printer-friendly version

In an open letter to CEO Irene Rosenfeld, IUF General Secretary Ron Oswald calls on Mondelez to reinstate union leaders dismissed in Tunisia and Egypt as a result of their activities in support of union members. The dismissals are human rights violations in breach of the OECD guidelines on multinational enterprises and the UN Guiding principles on Business and Human Rights. In Tunisia, the General Secretary and the Deputy Secretary of the local union were dismissed in the midst of collective bargaining. At Alexandria in Egypt 5 of the 9 members of the union board were dismissed after a dispute arose over the payment of a Government decreed social allowance. You can read the letter here.
