Honduras: Cabcorp (PepsiCo) continues to hamper collective negotiations

Printer-friendly version

Amid a worrying escalation of repression against trade unions in the country, aimed at dismantling the achievements of workers in many years of struggle, IUF affiliate STIBYS continues negotiations on a new Collective Agreement with CabCorp (PepsiCo).

In an interview with the IUF's Latin American Rel-UITA, Yanuario Hernández, member of the negotiation committee, spoke about how the company delays and hampers the negotiations.

The main issue is the request of the workers to make employment for certain core functions permanent instead of hiring workers through third parties.

The company also announced plans to restructure the warehouse, in neglect of provisions in the current CBA providing certain conditions for such restructuring.

Workers have been mobilising in protest against the companies attitude and the strong pressure that they experience.
