Union members voting on industrial action at Nestlé York

Printer-friendly version

GMB and UNITE are polling their members at the Kit Kat factory in York over the next steps in a collective bargaining dispute.

Nestlé has rejected the trade unions' demand for a wage increase which takes into account the inflation rate. The company has now said it may even reduce its offer, as inflation has dropped with respect to where it stood when negotiations began at the end of 2011.

Furthermore, the company refuses to consider sharing out the financial benefits brought about by the implementation of NCE and LEAN production methods.

A membership ballot in June returned a vote of 90% against Nestlé's pay offer.

The current ballot on industrial action began on 9 July and will last until 29 July.
