Industrial Action at JBS Australia

Printer-friendly version

Since May, work stoppages and overtime bans have been in place at JBS Australia's Dinmore beef plant when pay talks between the company and the Australasian Meat Industry Employees Union (AMIEU) broke down.

The company has retaliated by cancelling shifts affected by work stoppages, going so far as to impose total lockouts on 29 June and 6 July.

The union is seeking a 4% pay rise in line with the cost-of-living index - and following nearly two years without a pay rise. The company is insisting on 3%.

While the company and the union continue meeting, the rolling stoppages continue with the next ones scheduled for 16-17 August.

The AMIEU has said that industrial action, which is widely endorsed by the members, will continue until the demands are met.
