FrieslandCampina to modernise in German plants, 230 jobs will be cut

Printer-friendly version

FrieslandCampina has announced that investment in its German plants in Cologne, Gütersloh and Heilbronn will eliminate 230 jobs.

"With these investments, FrieslandCampina is clearly indicating its commitment to its German brands", said the company whilst adding, "With the German market for dairy products so intensely competitive, additional measures need to be taken".

The company apparently sees no value in any commitment to its workforce, only to its German profit and competitiveness. Adding ``additional measures need to be taken`` is an ominous warning to its workers that attacks on its remaining 1500 employees in German are likely.

Royal FrieslandCampina is a multinational dairy company wholly owned by the dairy co-operative Zuivelcoöperatie FrieslandCampina, which has 14,391 member dairy farms in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium. Company`s products are for sale in more than 100 countries and sales amounted to over 9,6 billion Euros. The company employs 19,000 people in 25 countries.
