Honduras: In preparation to negotiations, dirty games by Cabcorp

IUF-affiliate STIBYS is in the process of preparing collective bargaining with the Pepsi bottler in Honduras, La Reyna (part of Guatemalan Cabcorp). Workers demands focus as a priority at ensuring that permanent work can not be outsourced and that each new hire is for an indefinite time and with a regular work contract.

However the company in anticipation of the bargaining process has started to use a preventive strategy in order to weaken the union by intimidating organised workers, violating the current CBA.

Porfirio Ponce, STIBYS vice president, said " "It's a strategy the company has always used before entering the collective bargaining process. We are not afraid, but we are concerned because it is violating the law."
