Are commodity prices to blame for restructuring and layoffs at Kraft?

Or is Kraft - with additional leverage over suppliers since it swallowed Cadbury - simply racing to complete the massive cost savings it promised investors would be achieved by 2012 through the Cadbury deal?

Burton's Biscuits, which manufactures Kraft/Cadbury products in the UK under license, is feeling the squeeze from both Kraft and the company's private equity owners.
